Ado-Ekiti state —Tragedy struck in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, as a couple, identified as Caleb and Tate, lost their lives in a violent domestic altercation.

The incident, which has left residents in shock, reportedly escalated into a fatal knife attack between the husband and wife.

Fatal confrontation turns deadly

Eyewitnesses in Ekiti state and sources familiar with the situation disclosed that Caleb, who was a security agent, engaged in a heated dispute with his wife, Tate, Vanguard reported.

    Gruesome Injuries Reported

    According to reports, Tate allegedly cut off her husband's manhood during the altercation.

    In retaliation, Caleb stabbed her multiple times in the head, neck, and private parts. Their struggle ended with both succumbing to their injuries before help could arrive, Leadership reported.

    Residents of the area have expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate event, with many calling for greater awareness and intervention in cases of domestic violence.

    The incident has sparked discussions on the need for improved conflict resolution mechanisms and counselling services to help prevent such extreme domestic violence cases in the future.

    Expert calls for better conflict resolution to prevent domestic tragedies

    Speaking with Legit.ng on Saturday, February 23, a guidance and counselling expert, Dr. Grace Adeyemi, stressed the need for better conflict resolution strategies to prevent domestic disputes from turning violent.

  • Reacting to the tragic incident in Ado-Ekiti, where a couple lost their lives in a fatal altercation, she highlighted the dangers of unresolved tensions and poor emotional management in relationships.

    "Domestic conflicts, when left unchecked, can spiral into tragic outcomes like this. Couples must learn healthier ways to communicate and resolve disputes before emotions escalate beyond control," Dr. Adeyemi said.

    She urged the government and community leaders to provide greater access to counseling services and intervention programs, emphasizing that early mediation and emotional support can help prevent similar tragedies in the future

    Ibadan fire kills husband, wife, grandson

    Previously, Legit.ng reported that on Friday, December 20, Ibadan was hit by a fresh tragedy as a fire outbreak reportedly claimed the lives of three people at Ori-Eru, Idikan area of the Oyo state capital.

    It was gathered that the tragic incident, which affected a storey building, claimed the lives of a husband, his wife, and their grandson.

    The general manager, Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Yemi Akinyinka, revealed this via a statement made available to the press in Ibadan. According to Akinyinka, the personnel of the agency received a distress call about the incident from a resident named Hassan on Friday morning and immediately deployed personnel to the scene.

    The general manager noted that three persons, a husband, his wife, and their grandson, lost their lives in the fire incident while five persons were rescued alive from the building. Explaining further, Akinyinka added that the ground floor of the building and other nearby properties were saved from the inferno.
